This work is a finished study for a larger painting. It is a hauntingly evocative oil painting in the style of the Old Masters, and portrays a windswept girl poised against a brooding coastal landscape.
Her gaze is distant, her hair tousled by the sea breeze, and the chiaroscuro technique lends a dramatic depth to the scene.
Rich, moody tones and Renaissance-inspired detailing imbue the work with timeless melancholy and quiet strength.
The artwork is a nod to my earliest formative memories of artworks observed by me as a young boy, cementing my love for this medium.
