My most recent oil painting "Safe Passage" speaks of the acceptance of life, spiritual transformation, and peace amidst obstacles.
The conceptual thought process behind the work centers on the interplay between humility, vulnerability, perspective, and absolute trust.
The aim was to convey the message that true strength does not stem from fierce resistance, but rather from the humility to surrender (the inverted cross symbolism of the female figure), and the inner serenity (the water) required to face life’s arduous trials (the rocks and the arch).
I have created a deliberate tension between the rich structural precision and perspective lines of the timber boat with the eroded, sculptural quality and timeless endurance of the surrounding cliffs.
The combination of figurative portraiture with the landscape is representative of the current focus of my art practice, and the earthy color palette is evident in many of my artworks.
