My painting "the Last Hunter", captures a striking sense of solitude and resilience.
A lone Khoisan hunter, seated in quiet contemplation, is enveloped by an endless expanse of desert, its golden sands stretching to the horizon. The vastness of the scene amplifies the hunter’s isolation, yet there is a deep connection between him and the land - an unspoken harmony. The earthy tones evoke both the raw beauty and harsh reality of the environment, while the play of light and shadow hints at the passage of time.   It is a powerful tribute to an ancient way of life, steeped in patience, wisdom, and survival.
A tribute to the Khomani San aboriginal people of Southern Africa, considered by many geneticists & anthropologists to be the oldest human beings on earth, and living on this land for about 100,000 years before the arrival of black people and European settlers.
